Here it is folks! A day that could change American history forever. Who will be the next President of the United States? Barack Obama or John McCain- -are either of them ready? This is a job that has no training available. You either sink or swim.
However, let's not forget the President is in some ways just a figure head. It is our Congress who actually decides.
I waited in line for an hour and fifty minutes today to cast my vote. I voted a straight ticket so it took me about three minutes to read through everything and make sure I was voting for the party that I wanted too.
Twenty years ago today, I cast my first vote for President. I had registered as the same party as my parents because back then that is what you did. Especially if you didn't know better or understand how American politics work. Needless to say that day I made a decision that haunted me for quite a long time.
What American's should understand now is that it doesn't matter if you are a Republican or a Democrat. It just matters that you are an American. It is time to get back to the basics and take the pride in our country that our ancestors had when it all began.

Pushing Daisies
Have you seen Pushing Daisies? It is probably one of the funniest shows I have seen in a long time. If you haven't seen the show, the premise is that Ned has the power to bring people back from the dead by touching them.
There are three main characters other than Ned. who are: Emerson Cod, a private investigator who Ned helps solve murders, Olive Snook, a waitress secretly in love with Ned, works at the pie shop that Ned owns and lastly, Charlotte "Chuck" Charles, the girl from Ned's past that he has always loved.
The show started last season with an introduction to Ned, Olive & Emerson. Ned & Emerson were working a case about a woman killed on a cruise ship and low and behold it was Chuck. When Ned touches someone to bring them back from the dead they can stay alive for one minute. If Ned leaves them alive for longer than a minute someone else dies. Ned touched Chuck and couldn't bring himself to touch her again for her to die. The funeral home director, who is a scum bucket, so when Ned couldn't touch Chuck and make her die again the funeral home director had a heart attack on the toilet. It came out that he had stole items from all the people that he buried.
The most important secret that Ned had kept from Chuck was that his mother had died when they were young. He knew that if he touched her after she was dead he could bring her back from life. What he didn't know was that once he had touched her two things would happen, one if she wasn't touched again within a minute someone else would die in her place (Chuck's Dad) and two that if she touched him or Ned touched her she would die again permanently. The night his mother leaned down and kissed him good night and she died again. His father dropped him off at a boarding school and Chuck lived with her aunts the rest of her life. Ned never saw either his father or Chuck again until Emerson and Ned were solving her murder case. In this season, there is a possibility that Ned will see his father for the first time in twenty years.
Tune into this show, it is a great stress reliever!

Life as I knew it
How do I start this? Essentially, my mom died on June 21st of 2008. She had been ill with NASH (non-alcoholic steato-hepatitis) for several years and in March things got worse. In fact, it was so fast I don't think any of us were prepared. I was the most realistic, I looked at my mom and saw how ill she really was. Anyhow, she came home from the hospital on the 11th and died the 21st. I was able to work out of their (my parent's) home for those last ten days. I took care of her and even was right next to her when she took her last breath. What more could I ask for?
My parent's were married on September 21, 1957. Can you believe it 50 years? If I would have been my mom I would probably have killed my dad about 49 years ago. No seriously, my parent's adored each other and set a good example for everyone.
Did I mention that because of some family issues my dad has now moved in with me? I went from being a 38 year old single woman who lived alone with my two dogs and two cats to now caring for my dad.
So I went from being a normal daughter to a caregiver to a grieving daughter back to the caregiver! Today, my dad went to the doctor and they tested him for Alzheimer's because of some things that have gone on lately. The doctor decided to put him on Aricept. He is diabetic and I have been helping him watch his sugar. When I got home tonight and went to put his new medicines into his pill box (which used to be my mom's) I found that he had not taken any of his medicines. I took the pills downstairs to him and he insisted that he took them and became angry. He said he wasn't taking them because he had already taken them and I just started sobbing. I am not ready for this!
Where did my life go? When did I become the parent?
